NABEV Foundation is being established as an independent public-interest nonprofit advancing consumer understanding, social inclusion, and confidence through research, education, community investment, and cross-sector partnerships.
Why the work matters
Adults choose non-alcoholic and alcohol-free beverages for many different personal, social, cultural, health, and lifestyle reasons. Yet terminology, availability, presentation, and social expectations can still create confusion or exclusion.NABEV Foundation works to replace that uncertainty with credible information, practical resources, and more choice-ready social environments.

Purpose
The NABEV Foundation exists to strengthen the independent public-interest infrastructure that helps adults understand, access, and confidently choose non-alcoholic and alcohol-free adult beverages.
We produce and support evidence, practical resources, community initiatives, and cross-sector collaboration that improve consumer clarity, social inclusion, and confidence—without promoting individual brands or directing personal drinking decisions.
What We Will Do
Collaborative AdvocacyPlan to bring together a diverse coalition of academics, health experts, community advocates, industry leaders, and policymakers to align on shared data, practical toolkits, and verifiable progress for the public interest.
Community ConnectionEmpower local non-profits and grassroots movements that foster inclusive social spaces for adults while expanding the reach of trustworthy informational materials and resources.
Evidence and Analysis
Fund and distribute objective research focused on consumer perceptions, standard terminology, labeling clarity, and the systemic obstacles preventing confident, informed decision-making.
Choice-Ready Environments
Establish and assess voluntary frameworks that guide hospitality, travel, corporate, and event sectors in making non-alcoholic options more visible and inclusive. These programs focus on operational excellence and pilot initiatives rather than formal certification.
Our Scope
NABEV Foundation’s work is focused exclusively on the U.S. non-alcoholic adult beverage category:

Non-alcoholic (NA): products containing less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.

Alcohol-free (AF): products containing 0.0% alcohol by volume or no detectable alcohol.
Low-alcohol products and intoxicating cannabis- or hemp-derived beverages are outside the Foundation’s scope.
FDA guidance distinguishes “non-alcoholic” from “alcohol-free” and reserves alcohol-free terminology for products containing no detectable alcohol, supporting NABEV’s consumer-clarity position. FDA labeling guidance
These descriptions communicate the Foundation’s program scope and are not a substitute for product-specific federal or state labeling requirements.
Independence Statement
NABEV Foundation is being established as an independently governed nonprofit organization dedicated to public-interest education, research, community investment, and collaboration within the U.S. non-alcoholic adult beverage category.
The Foundation does not certify products, license certification marks, make commercial product recommendations, or influence NABEV LLC certification decisions. Contributions do not provide product approval, preferential treatment, research control, or commercial benefit.
